The Struggle to Share Our Palestinian Story
Share
As Palestinians and supporters of Palestine, we often encounter hurtful comments when we promote symbols of our heritage, such as the keffiyeh, on social media. At palthreads.com, we’ve made efforts to share our products and our story through paid advertisements, yet these posts are frequently met with hostility and prejudice. We've seen the keffiyeh, a cherished symbol of our identity, disparaged in hurtful ways, with some even comparing it to "toilet paper" or a "floor mat." The language can be shockingly offensive.
It’s painful to witness such disdain toward our cultural symbols. We’re a people who have lived under Israeli occupation for over 70 years, and we're simply trying to share our narrative and shed light on the hardships Gazans and Palestinians endure daily. Thousands of innocent lives – babies, children, women, men, and the elderly – have been lost to Israeli military actions and the ongoing conflict. Is it unreasonable for us to want to amplify their stories and advocate for their lives and dignity?
